Epoxy alkyl peroxides are formed stereoselectively by the action of t-butyl hydroperoxide-SnCl₄ upon allylic alcohols containing an amido group, and with reversal of the diastereoselectivity shown by the action of t-butyl hydroperoxide-VO(acac)₂ upon analogous carbocyclic alcohols.
