Dehydrogenation to the corresponding diketone occurs to the extent of 16percent and 42percent respectively in the flash vacuum pyrolysis of 3,6-dimethyl-1,2-dioxacyclohexane and 2,3-dioxabicyclo<2.2.2>octane, but is unimportant in similar pyrolyses of 3,5-dimethyl-1,2-dioxacyclopentane and 2,3-dioxabicyclo<2.2.1>heptane.
