(Chemical Equation Presented) Hydrogen-atom transfer from water to free radicals can be mediated by aqua complexes of titanium(III) (see scheme). Asymmetric epoxidation in combination with [Cp₂TiCl]/H ₂O-mediated reductive epoxide opening can be viewed as an alternative with complementary stereoselectivity to the hydroboration-epoxidation method for the enantioselective synthesis of anti-Markovnikov alcohols from alkenes.
