Five and six membered imines add to the Dane salt to yield carbapenams and carbacephams, respectively, with vinylamino side chains.The configuration of the substituents at the bridgehead atom and at C-6 of the adduct 4a is shown by NOE experiments and a X-ray analysis.After elimination of the protecting group the corresponding amino and bromo derivatives are available.
