Convenient method for N-debenzylation of tertiary amines

N-Benzyl tertiary amines on reaction with ethyl chloroformate give the corresponding debenzylated N-carbamates which on treatment with I₃B:N(C₂H₅)₂Ph complex yield the secondary amines.
