The optical yield of methyl 3-hydroxybutyrate in the asymmetric hydrogenation of methyl acetoacetate with tartaric acid-modified Ni/SiO2 catalyst decreased linearly with an increase in the hydrogen pressure up to 10 kg/cm² in contraast to the data under higher hydrogen pressures.
