A yellow adduct obtained from benzyne and naphtho<2,3-c><1,2,5>selenadiazole is identified as 3-(10-cyano-9-anthryl)-1,2-benzisoselenazole (7).Sequential addition of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and of benzyne to the same fused 1,2,5-selenadiazole affords 3-(4-cyano-2,3-bismethoxycarbonyl-1-naphthyl)-1,2-benzisoselenazole (12).
