The novel formation of anhydro-3-hydroxy-2,4-diphenyl-6-arylpyrylium hydroxide in the reaction of 3-aroylaziridines with diphenylcyclopropenones and their 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with diphenylcyclopropenone, N-phenylmaleimide, dimethyl fumarate, and dimethyl maleate were described.
