G1: A mixture of compound D1 (1.51 g, 5.4 mmol), 4,4′-diiodobiphenyl
(1.0 g, 2.5 mmol), Cu-bronze (80 mg, 1.25 mmol), and K2CO3
(2.4 g, 17.5 mmol) were added to a 3-necked flask, and then 18-crown-6
(165 mg, 0.625 mmol) and o-dichlorobenzene (70 mL) were added under
a nitrogen atmosphere. After stirring for 36 h at 110 °C, the solvent was
removed under reduced pressure. Ammonia solution (30 mL) was added
and the mixture was stand for 2 h. Water was added and the mixture
was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic phases
were separated and washed with dilute HCl and brine, then dried over
anhydrous MgSO4. The solvent was removed to dryness and the residue
was purified by column chromatography over silica gel with petroleum
ether/dichloromethane (4:1) as the eluent to give G1 as a white solid
(700 mg, 40% yield).
