The basis knowledge of the Frankfurt shift could be extended by experiments on the kinetic isotopic effect, an experiment with incubation in ¹⁸O₂-atmosphere and a shift with 1-(4-fluorobenzyl)-piperidine-N-oxide (4). Furthermore the shift was established in a whole animal experiment (rat).
