4.6. Reaction of diphosphene anion radical salt 2 with
elemental tellurium
In a glovebox filled with argon, the suspension of diph-
osphene anion radical salt 2 (72.5 mg, 50.2 lmol) and ele-
mental tellurium (32.0 mg, 251 lmol) in benzene-d6
(0.9 mL) was transferred to an NMR tube, and then the
tube was evacuated and sealed. After standing at room
temperature for 24 h, the color of the suspension was chan-
ged from purple to red. The signals for 1 were observed in

opened, the suspension was filtered through Celite to
remove insoluble materials. Diphosphene 1 (48.0 mg,
41.2 lmol, 82%) was obtained as red crystals.

were optimized by using the 6-31G(d) for H, C, and
6-311+G(2d,p) for P basis sets. It was confirmed that the
optimized structures of trans-HP@PH, trans-DmpP@
PDmp, 4, and 5 have minimum energies by frequency
calculations. The TDDFT calculations of 4 and 5 were
performed at the B3LYP/[6-31G(d) for H, C, and 6-311+
