The molecular and crystal structure of glucofuranose 3,5-phenylcyclophosphonate, containing a six-membered 1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane fragment, was determined by x-ray crystallography.The structural and stereochemical characteristics of the compound are compared with those of our previously investigated O, S, and Se derivatives of the cyclic phosphonates of furanoses with a seven-membered 1,3,2-dioxaphosphenane fragment.
