Perpendicular and crystalline anisotropies are also measured. Misfit dislocations are observed from the thinnest deposit thickness (11 A) examined. The elastic strain determined from spacings of misfit dislocations and moire fringes shows a lower decrease with Ni thickness than for vapor-deposited films. Measured anisotropy constants show strong thickness dependence. Effects of strain through the interaction with magnetostriction are discussed.
