Reduction of trichloromethyltrimethylsilane by ferrotetraarylporphyrins, FeII(P), in the presence of an excess of a reducing agent, leads to the formation, of a reducing agent or of Fe(P)(CS) complexes when sodium dithionite is used as a reducing agent. These results can be explained by the involvement of unstable α-silylcarbeneferroporphyrin complexes.
