An alkali-catalyzed hydrogen isotope exchange reaction was studied in a CF3CHBrCl-D2O two liquid phase system.The exchange rate was comparable to that in the CHCl3-D2O system previously recognized as the system having the highest exchange rate under alkaline conditions.It was confirmed that CF3CHBrCl was resistant to decomposition caused by alkali.These properties indicate that CF3CHBrCl could be a candidate for a working material in laser hydrogen-isotope separation processes.
