From an extract of root bark of Olinia usambelensis, which showed antifeedant activity, 5-(4'-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-caffeoyloxy-5,6-dihydro-4-methyl-(2H)-pyran-2-one, named olinioside, caffeic acid, and 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosylcaffeic acid were isolated.The structure of olinioside was assigned by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
