Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by (1-Methoxy-hexyl)-carbamic acid methyl ester. This reaction will need reagent H₂SO₄, and solvent methanol. The reaction time is 3 hours. The yield is about 92%.

Uses of Hexane, 1,1-dimethoxy-: it can be used to produce 2-(1-Methoxyhexyl)-2-(trimethylsiloxy)cyclobutanone. It will need reagent TiCl₄ and solvent CH₂Cl₂ with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 89%.
