Raney nickel Specification

The Raney nickel, with the CAS registry number 12635-27-7, is also known as Skeletal nickel catalyst. It belongs to the product categories of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry; Chemical Synthesis. Its EINECS number is 231-111-4. What's more, its systematic name is aluminum - nickel (1:1). It is a solid catalyst composed of fine grains of a nickel-aluminium alloy, used in many industrial processes. More recently it is used as a heterogeneous catalyst in a variety of organic syntheses, most commonly for hydrogenation reactions. It is used in a large number of industrial processes and in organic synthesis because of its stability and high catalytic activity at room temperature. It is notable for being thermally and structurally stable as well has having a large BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) surface area. Raney nickel is produced when a block of nickel-aluminium alloy is treated with concentrated sodium hydroxide. This treatment, called "activation", dissolves most of the aluminium out of the alloy.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
If it contacts with water, it will liberate extremely flammable gases. Moreover, it is spontaneously flammable in air. It has a limited evidence of a carcinogenic effect and may cause sensitisation by skin contact. You should keep contents under ... (appropriate liquid to be specified by the manufacturer) and keep it away from heat. You must not breathe dust. In case of fire use ... (indicate in the space the precise type of fire-fighting equipment. If water increases the risk add - Never use water). When using it, you need wear suitable protective clothing and gloves.

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
(1)SMILES: [AlH3].[Ni]
(2)Std. InChI: InChI=1S/Al.Ni
(3)Std. InChIKey: NPXOKRUENSOPAO-UHFFFAOYSA-N
