Hydride Transfer

The hydride ion (H-) is transferred from the hydrosilane to the oxygen atom in the phosphine oxide, sulfoxide, or N-oxide. This results in the reduction of the oxygen atom to a hydroxyl group or an amine group, depending on the starting material.
