Metal-Catalyzed Reactions

Transition metals like copper can be used to catalyze the generation of (2-chlorovinyl)chlorocarbenes. This is often done by treating certain precursors with a copper catalyst. The copper activates the carbon-halogen bond and promotes the formation of the carbene intermediate.
