This product is an organic compound with the formula AsF3. The systematic name of this chemical is Arsenous trifluoride. Its EINECS number is 232-060-0. With the CAS registry number 7784-35-2, it is also named as Trifluoroarsine. In addition, the molecular weight is 131.92. It is nonflammable. When encountered heat, water and acid, it will emit poisonous arsenic and fluoride steam. It should be sealed and stored in a cool, ventilated and dry place. Moreover, it should be stored in separate places without alkali, acids and food additives. It is used in the production of arsenic salt, electronic materials, reagents, etc. It is also used as fluorinating non-metal chlorides to fluorides, in this respect it is less reactive than SbF3.
Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by hydrogen fluoride and arsenic trioxide in oil bath. The yield is about 80%. It can also be prepared by arsenic trioxide, calcium fluoride and sulfuric acid.
As2O3 + 6HF → 2AsF3 + 3H2O
As2O3 + 3CaF2 + 3H2SO4 → 2AsF3 + 3CaSO4 + 3H2O
When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
