General Description

Strontium iodide is a chemical compound with the formula SrI2. It is typically a bright yellow powder but can also be colorless. As an inorganic compound, Strontium iodide is often used in fireworks to produce red coloring. It’s also used in the preparation of other strontium compounds, in fluorescent lights as it can provide a bright blue light, and in medicine for diagnosing certain heart conditions. Strontium iodide is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and is considered safe to handle, although it can be harmful if ingested or inhaled in large amounts.
