Amine grafted Fe3O4 immobilized graphene oxide as a recyclable and effectual nanocomposite for the regioselective ring opening reaction

Gupta, Padmini,Garkoti, Charu,Shabir, Javaid,Surabhi,Sah, Digvijay,Mozumdar, Subho

, p. 4013 - 4028 (2021/06/25)

This work describes the synthesis of magnetic graphene oxide (MGO), where iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were uniformly deposited over the sheets of the graphene oxide (GO). Further, the introduction of aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) on the surface of MGO was successfully done and results in the formation of amine-functionalized magnetic graphene oxide (MGO–NH2). The synthesized heterogeneous magnetic nanocomposite was characterized by numerous physicochemical and morphological techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, thermogravimetric analysis, transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, scanning electron microscopy, CHN analyzer, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The synthesized nanocomposite was proved to be an effectual catalyst in the nucleophilic ring opening reactions of styrene oxide with derivatives of amines under green solvent. The present catalyst displayed good catalytic activity, short reaction time, higher regioselectivity, excellent yields and could be reutilized up to seven catalytic rounds with no substantial loss in its activity. The excellent properties of the catalyst are due to the dual character of acidic groups (existence of carboxyl groups on the sheet edges) and basic groups (amine groups anchored on the surface of GO). On completion of the reaction, the prepared nanocomposite could be effortlessly recovered from the reaction mixture by utilizing an external magnet, owing to the ferromagnetic property of Fe3O4. Cross-linked poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone)-titanium tetrachloride complex: A novel stable solid TiCl4 equivalent as a recyclable polymeric Lewis acid catalyst for regioselective ring-opening alcoholysis of epoxides

Rahmatpour, Ali,Sajjadinezhad, Seyed Mehrzad

, (2021/08/09)

Cross-linked poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) resin beads were prepared as macromolecular ligand precursors by suspension copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinking agent in water. Subsequently, the resulting polymer carrier precursor was readily combined with titanium tetrachloride to form a stable polymeric coordination complex (PNVP/TiCl4), and this novel stable TiCl4 equivalent evaluated as a heterogeneous and reusable solid Lewis acid catalyst for the regio-and stereoselective nucleophilic ring opening of various epoxides with various alcohols to prepare β-alkoxy alcohols in excellent yields without generating any waste. The MBA-cross-linked PNVP and resultant catalyst were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT–IR), field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE–SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques. Moreover, the catalyst is very stable, easily separated, and reused at least five times without significant loss of activity. In terms of scope, yields, the amount of catalyst used, and reaction time, the PNVP-TiCl4 complex catalyst is an improvement over previously reported heterogeneous catalysts for ring opening of epoxides methods. Further, the experimental outcome revealed that using the copolymer beads as carriers with a high percentage of crosslinking and the high mesh size leads had an adverse effect on the reaction rate.

Synthesis and application of Cu(II) immobilized MCM-41 based solid Lewis acid catalyst for aminolysis reaction under solvent-free condition

Chaudhary, Garima,Gupta, Neha,Singh, Amit Pratap

, (2021/07/22)

In this paper, a Cu(II) immobilized periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMOs) was synthesized and used as a reusable solid Lewis acid catalyst for the aminolysis of epoxides under solvent-free conditions. An amide-based ligand, L-propylsilyl (1) having a specific binding pocket was prepared and fabricated on mesoporous MCM-41 to produce mesoporous organosilica L-propylsilyl@MCM-41 (2). Further, it has been utilized for anchoring Cu(II) ions under controlled reaction conditions to yield solid Lewis acid catalyst Cu(II)-L-propylsilyl@MCM-41 (3). The synthesized catalyst 3 exhibits significantly higher catalytic activity for aminolysis compared to hitherto known solid Lewis acid catalysts. An extensive range of β-amino alcohols with high regio and stereoselectivity were prepared by using catalyst 3. The catalyst was recovered easily and reused eight times without any loss in its catalytic activity. Furthermore, the synthesis of clinically significant propranolol (β-blocker) from α- naphthyl glycidyl ether was attained successfully using catalyst 3 in a very decent yield.

Cellulose sulfate: An efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the ring-opening of epoxides with alcohols and anilines

Chaudhary, Pooja,Deepa,Meena, Dhan Raj,Aalam, Mohd Jubair,Yadav, Geeta Devi,Singh, Surendra

supporting information, p. 1834 - 1846 (2021/05/10)

Cellulose sulfate was synthesized by esterification of α-cellulose with concentrated sulfuric acid at ?10°C in ethanol. Cellulose is mainly sulfated on 3-, 6- and 3, 6-positions of the cellulose. It acts as a heterogeneous catalyst for the ring-opening of epoxides with alcohols or anilines and the Friedel-Crafts reaction between N-benzylindole and crotonaldehyde at room temperature. Methanolysis of cyclic epoxides, styrene oxide, terminal aliphatic epoxides, and glycidyl ethers were carried out using the catalyst (0.4–6.8 mg/mmol of epoxide) and afforded the corresponding products in 53–97% isolated yields after 10 min–24 h. Cellulose sulfate was successfully recycled and reused up to 3 catalytic cycles for the ring-opening of styrene oxide with methanol.

Catalytic Diastereo- and Enantioconvergent Synthesis of Vicinal Diamines from Diols through Borrowing Hydrogen

Feng, Wei,Gao, Taotao,Lau, Kai Kiat,Lin, Yamei,Pan, Hui-Jie,Yang, Binmiao,Zhao, Yu

supporting information, p. 18599 - 18604 (2021/08/09)

We present herein an unprecedented diastereoconvergent synthesis of vicinal diamines from diols through an economical, redox-neutral process. Under cooperative ruthenium and Lewis acid catalysis, readily available anilines and 1,2-diols (as a mixture of diastereomers) couple to forge two C?N bonds in an efficient and diastereoselective fashion. By identifying an effective chiral iridium/phosphoric acid co-catalyzed procedure, the first enantioconvergent double amination of racemic 1,2-diols has also been achieved, resulting in a practical access to highly valuable enantioenriched vicinal diamines.

supporting information, p. 9292 - 9296 (2021/12/06)

Two new visible-light-mediated strategies are described starting from aryldiazoacetates. The first approach describes their reaction with azides to afford the corresponding imines, and then reaction with aryldiazoketones produces alkyl 2-carboxylate-2,3,3

Synthesis method of beta-amino alcohol compounds

-

Paragraph 0109-0125, (2020/03/29)

The invention discloses a synthesis method of beta-amino alcohol compounds. A carboxylic acid is adopted as a catalyst to promote amination of an epoxide to generate the beta-amino alcohol compounds.Compared with reported methods, this method has advantages of no use of metal catalysts, mild reaction conditions, the safe, non-toxic, cheap and readily available catalyst, a high product yield and high regioselectivity. In addition, a low-boiling-point carboxylic acid can be selected as the catalyst. When the low-boiling-point catalyst is used, excess raw materials and the catalyst can be recycled and reused, almost no waste is discharged to the environment, a post-treatment process does not require extraction, drying, filtration or the like, and a mixture after the reaction is finished is simply distilled or distilled under reduced pressure to obtain a crude product with higher purity. The synthesis process is simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
