Inhibition of 5-α-reductase (type-II) expression by antisense 3'- deoxy-(2'-5') oligonucleotide chimeras
Bhan, Purshotam,Bhan, Anila,Hong, Mikung,Hartwell, John G.,Saunders, June M.,Hoke, GlennD
, p. 1195 - 1199 (1997)
3'-Deoxy-(2'-5') oligonucleotides bind selectively to complementary RNA but not to DNA. 3'-Deoxy-(2'-5') phosphorothioate ODN chimeras embedded with a short stretch of 3'-5' phosphorothioate cassette are potent inhibitors of steroid 5-α-reductase expression with significantly less non-specific interactions in cell culture.
A convenient preparation of protected 3′-deoxyguanosine from guanosine
He, Gong-Xin,Bischofberger, Norbert
, p. 6991 - 6994 (1995)
Protected 3′-deoxyguanosine was synthesized from guanosine in five steps and 50% overall yield through reaction of the 2′,3′-diol with a-acetoxyisobutyryl bromide followed by base treatment to form 2′,3′-anhydroguanosine and subsequent selective reduction of the epoxide with LiHBEt3.
