Metal-Free Multi-Component Sulfur Dioxide Insertion Reaction Leading to Quinoxalin-2-One-Containing Vinyl Sulfones under Visible-Light Photoredox Catalysis

Lv, Yufen,Luo, Jinyun,Lin, Muze,He, Lin,Yue, Huilan,Liu, Ruisheng,Wei, Wei

, p. 5122 - 5128 (2021)

A metal-free multi-component sulfur dioxide insertion reaction of alkynes, sodium metabisulfite, aryldiazonium, and quinoxalin-2-ones has been developed under visible-light?photoredox-catalysis. This photocatalytic tandem reaction would be conducted at room temperature by using of Rhodamine 6G as organic photocatalyst and sodium metabisulfite as the SO2 surrogate. This protocol provides a synthetic strategy for the construction of various quinoxalin-2-one-containing vinyl sulfones with favourable functional group tolerance, in which one C?C bond and two C?S bonds were constructed in one pot procedure. supporting information, p. 9073 - 9077 (2021/12/06)

Herein, we have developed two types of photoredox-catalyzed cascade reactions using diaryliodonium salts for the concise synthesis of norascyronone A and β-eudesmol. A rationally designed photoredox-catalyzed arylation/cyclization/Friedel-Crafts cascade reaction of enone was exploited to generate the norascyronone polycyclic skeleton. A visible-light-induced radical cyclization/acyloxy-migration reaction was explored to forge the decalin skeleton of eudesmol, and mechanistic studies indicated the reaction was initiated by one-electron oxidation of the enol ester.

Visible-Light-Promoted Iron-Catalyzed N-Arylation of Dioxazolones with Arylboronic Acids

Tang, Jing-Jing,Yu, Xiaoqiang,Yamamoto, Yoshinori,Bao, Ming

, p. 13955 - 13961 (2021/11/20)

A visible-light-promoted and simple iron salt-catalyzed N-arylation was achieved efficiently under external photosensitizer-free conditions. Arylboronic acids and bench-stable dioxazolones were used for this cross-coupling reaction. This reaction features high reactivity, wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, simple operation procedure, and mild reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic investigations were conducted to support a radical pathway. This method may contribute to shift the paradigm of iron-catalyzed C-N bond construction and nitrene transfer chemistry.

Visible-Light-Induced Photocatalytic Oxidative Decarboxylation of Cinnamic Acids to 1,2-Diketones

Mn(iii)-mediated cascade cyclization of 1-(azidomethyl)-2-isocyanoarenes with organoboronic acids: Construction of quinazoline derivatives

Kumar, Gujjenahalli Ramalingaiah Yogesh,Begum, Noor Shahina

, p. 9811 - 9817 (2021/06/15)

A novel and efficient Mn(iii)-mediated oxidative radical cascade reaction of 1-(azidomethyl)-2-isocyanoarenes with organoboronic acids is reported. The single electron oxidation of a commercially available organo boronic acid in the presence of a mild oxidant, Mn(OAc)3·2H2O, resulted in moderate yields of the corresponding quinazoline derivatives.

σ-Bond initiated generation of aryl radicals from aryl diazonium salts

Chan, Bun,McErlean, Christopher S. P.,Nashar, Philippe E.,Tatunashvili, Elene

, p. 1812 - 1819 (2020/03/17)

σ-Bond nucleophiles and molecular oxygen transform aryl diazonium salts into aryl radicals. Experimental and computational studies show that Hantzsch esters transfer hydride to aryl diazonium species, and that oxygen initiates radical fragmentation of the diazene intermediate to produce aryl radicals. The operational simplicity of this addition-fragmentation process for the generation of aryl radicals, by a polar-radical crossover mechanism, has been illustrated in a variety of bond-forming reactions.

Intermolecular oxyarylation of olefins with aryl halides and TEMPOH catalyzed by the phenolate anion under visible light

Li, Xipan,Liang, Kangjiang,Liu, Qian,Shen, Lei,Wei, Delian,Xia, Chengfeng,Zheng, Liyan

, p. 6996 - 7002 (2020/07/23)

The phenolate anion was discovered as a new photocatalyst with strong reduction potentials. Under visible light irradiation, the phenolate anion enabled the reduction of (hetero)aryl halides (including electron-rich aryl chlorides) to (hetero)aryl radicals through single electron transfer. Based on this new photocatalyst, a novel and efficient photocatalytic protocol for the intermolecular oxyarylation of olefins with aryl halides and TEMPOH was developed. The developed three-component coupling reaction proceeded under redox-neutral reaction conditions with stable and readily available synthons and exhibited broad substrate scope. The utility of this process was further highlighted by the diversified chemical manipulation of the resulting oxyarylation products and the late-stage modification of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

supporting information, p. 16692 - 16696 (2020/10/27)

This communication describes the development of a mild method for the cross-coupling of the C3-position of coumarin with an array of diazonium salts mediated by chlorophyll as a biocatalyst via visible light catalysis. A natural pigment such as chlorophyll is used as a green photosensitizer and environmentally benign catalyst. This general and easy procedure provides a transition-metal-free alternative for the formation of 3-aryl coumarin derivatives at room temperature with good to excellent yields. This journal is
