Uses
Used in Chemical Industry:
(1Z)-1,2-dichlorobuta-1,3-diene is utilized as a key intermediate in the synthesis of various chemical products, primarily for the production of synthetic rubbers and resins. Its role in these processes is crucial due to its ability to undergo polymerization, contributing to the formation of durable and versatile materials with a wide range of applications.
Used in Vinyl Chloride Production:
As a byproduct in the production of vinyl chloride, (1Z)-1,2-dichlorobuta-1,3-diene plays a significant role in the chemical manufacturing process. Vinyl chloride is a vital precursor to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a widely used plastic material known for its strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals and corrosion. The presence of (1Z)-1,2-dichlorobuta-1,3-diene in this process highlights its importance in the synthesis of valuable industrial materials.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3574-40-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,5,7 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3574-40:
(6*3)+(5*5)+(4*7)+(3*4)+(2*4)+(1*0)=91
91 % 10 = 1
So 3574-40-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

During the chlorination of chloroprene (80-85percent conversion) in carbon tetrachloride at -5 to 0 deg C in the presence of tert-butylpyrocatechol 1,2-dichloro-1,3-butadiene, 3,3,4-trichloro-1-butene, 2,3,4-trichloro-1-butene, and 1,2,4-trichloro-2-butene are formed in percentage ratios of 20.4:6.7:3.4:69.5.During chlorination to total conversion of chloroprene under these conditions a series of other compounds are also formed as a result of the further chlorination of 1,2-dichloro-1,3-butadiene and 3,3,4-trichloro-1-butene.During the chlorination of 1,2-dichloro-1,3-butadiene to a high degree of conversion 1,2,4-trichloro-1,3-butadiene, 1,2,3,4-tetrachloro-1-butene, and 1,1,2,4-tetrachloro-2-butene are formed in ratios of 11.4:49:39.6.
