supporting information, p. 5859 - 5863 (2015/05/13)
Ruthenium-triphos complexes exhibited unprecedented catalytic activity and selectivity in the redox-neutral C-C bond cleavage of the β-O-4 lignin linkage of 1,3-dilignol model compounds. A mechanistic pathway involving a dehydrogenation-initiated retro-aldol reaction for the C-C bond cleavage was proposed in line with experimental data and DFT calculations.
Discovery of potent transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 antagonists: Design and synthesis of phenoxyacetamide derivatives

, p. 3154 - 3156 (2013/06/26)
We aimed to discover a novel type of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) antagonist because such antagonists are possible drug candidates for treating various disorders. We modified the structure of hit compound 7 (human TRPV1 IC50 = 411 nM) and converted its pyrrolidino group to a (hydroxyethyl)methylamino group, which substantially improved inhibitory activity (15d; human TRPV1 IC50 = 33 nM). In addition, 15d ameliorated bladder overactivity in rats in vivo.
Design of reaction media for nucleophilic substitution reactions by using a catalytic amount of an amphiphilic imidazolium salt in water
Asano, Keisuke,Matsubara, Seijiro
experimental part, p. 989 - 1002 (2010/10/19)
Molecules of an amphiphilic imidazolium salt assemble in water to form a hydrophobic membrane including an interface consisting of ammonium species. Such an interface works as a reaction medium like an ionic liquid. We used the medium for nucleophilic substitution reactions between alkyl halides and anionic nucleophiles. This procedure allowed the reactions to proceed efficiently in water without any organic solvent.
Improved ester interchange catalysts
Kissling, Rebecca M.,Gagne, Michel R.
, p. 4209 - 4212 (2007/10/03)
(equation presented) Mixed alkoxide/aryloxide clusters are long-lived and milder than previously reported ester interchange catalysts. They completely transform difficult substrates in a single synthetic operation with lower catalyst and reagent ester loadings. In addition to superior activities, these mixed clusters are kinetically less basic toward enolizable esters.
NUCLEOPHILIC SUBSTITUTION OF ALKYL HALIDES BY ZINC SALTS-3 PREPARATION OF TERTARY ALKYL ESTERS AND ETHERS UNDER NON-SOLVOLYTIC CONDITIONS
Ravindranath, B.,Srinivas, P.
, p. 1623 - 1628 (2007/10/02)
Zinc salts of carboxylic acids, phenols and alcohols are found to react with tertiary alkyl halides in nonpolar solvents and in presence of a base yielding the corresponding esters and ethers in moderate to good yields.
