Silane, trimethyl(1-methylenepropoxy)-, also known as 1-(trimethylsilyl)propan-2-one or 1-methylenepropoxytrimethylsilane, is an organosilicon compound with the chemical formula C6H14OSi. It is a colorless liquid with a molecular weight of 130.26 g/mol. Silane, trimethyl(1-methylenepropoxy)- is characterized by the presence of a trimethylsilyl group (Si(CH3)3) attached to a 1-methylenepropoxy group (CH2=C(O)CH3). It is primarily used as a reagent in organic synthesis, particularly in the formation of carbon-carbon bonds and as a protecting group for carbonyl compounds.
