It is also known as isonicotinonitrile and belongs to the class of organic compounds called pyridines. 2-Pyridinecarbonitrile,4-(1-methylethyl)-(9CI) is commonly used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet, fruity odor and is soluble in water, ethanol, and diethyl ether. 2-Pyridinecarbonitrile, 4-(1-methylethyl)-(9CI) has both industrial and research applications, including in the synthesis of drugs and other organic compounds.
