• Associated context:

  At the beginning, benzil dioxime (1 equiv) was used as the starting material to investigate this reaction. It was found that when P₂I₄ was used as a reagent in the presence of CH₂Cl₂ as a solvent, the normal Beckmann product, 1,2,4-oxadiazole,  could be obtained in 89% yield after the mixture was stirred at room temperature  (Scheme 1).
