- Separator isoelectrofocusing: the influence of biological buffers on the IEF patterns of transferrins. Kornhuber, Bernhard; Kuehnl, Peter (Inst. Immunohematol., Univ. Frankfurt, Frankfurt/Main D-6000/73, Fed. Rep. 16052-06-5 and 4432-31-9 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article. Ger.). Adv. Forensic Haemogenet., 1, 119-22 (English) 1986. CODEN: AFHAE8. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Section cross-reference(s): 9 Blood serum samples of humans were pretreated with ferrous ammonium sulfate and neraminidase and then subjected to transferrin subtyping by isoelec. focusing (IEF). To improve resoln., 5 biol. buffers (i.e., separators) were applied to polyacrylamide gels; they were ACES [7365-82-4], HEPES [7365-45-9], MOPS [1132-61-2], MES [4432-31-9], and EPPS [16052-06-5]. Among those separators, HEPES was the most satisfactory. Further improvements of this separator IEF technique may make it a useful method for transferrin subtyping. .
- ATP concentration measurement in a polyculture
- ATP concentration measurement in a polyculture. Grasmick, A.; Goret, P.; Elmaleh, S. (Lab. Genie Chim. Appl. Biotechnol., Univ. Sci. Tech. Languedoc, Montpellier 34060, Fr.). Rev. Fr. Sci. Eau, 2(2), 189-98 (French) 1983. 1132-61-2 and 67-68-5 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. CODEN: RFSEDN. ISSN: 0750-7186. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 61 (Water) Section cross-reference(s): 60, 80 Although ATP [56-65-5] concn. may be a useful indication of biol. activity, its measurement can be problematical. Six methods of extn. were tested on a fixed denitrifying culture: Na3PO4 plus CHCl3 [67-66-3]; glycine [56-40-6]/Mg EDTA [14852-71-2]; TRIS [77-86-1]/EDTA [60-00-4], TCA [76-03-9]/EDTA; TCA/EDTA plus Et2O [60-29-7]; and DMSO [67-68-5] plus MOPS [1132-61-2]. All 6 methods introduced systematic errors or produced values unstable with time. A proposed method consisting of extn. with DMSO and stabilization with glycine/Mg EDTA buffer was shown to be sensitive and stable with good reproducibility. .
