Treatment with CCl4 [56-23-5] (1.5 mL) was effective in only half of the infected birds. I did not appear to be toxic to the birds even when administered orally at 45 mg/kg.

Hexachloroparaxylol [28064-98-4] was also somewhat effective. Sulfene [917-73-7], sulfoxide oxide [64699-94-1], hexide [3161-14-6], hexide sulfoxide [3145-38-8], hetol [68-36-0], and ambilhar [61-57-4] were relatively ineffective. Anthelmintics were only effective when the water temp. was >18°.
