ISSN: 0365-9615. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) Section cross-reference(s): 1 The nicotinic cholinominectis (N-cholinomimetics) nicotine [54-11-5] and cytiton [485-35-8] markedly inhibited renin [9015-94-5] secretion by rat kidney sections after a- and b-adrenergic receptor blockade. Spasmolytin and benzohexonium (N-cholinolytic and ganglion blocker, resp.) dose dependently stimulated (10-20-fold) renin secretion. The muscarinic cholinomimetics (M-cholinomimetic) arecolidine [57680-57-6] and proserine [51-60-5] and quateron [3818-40-4] increased renin secretion 3-5-fold independently of the dose. Pilocarpine and the M-cholinolytics atropine and pratyphylline, decreased renin secretion 2-fold, also independently of the dose. Apparently, the kidney cortex contains N-cholinoreactive systems that have a direct or mediated action on renin secretion and M-cholinoreactive systems that modulate the activity of the former system.

Martines-Soler, R.; Menenuss, R.; Geratex, A.; Demushkin, V. P.; Plyashkevich, Yu. G. (Brain Inst., Acad. Sci. Cuba, Cuba). Byull. Eksp. Biol. Med., 98(9), 312-15 (Russian) 1984. CODEN: BEBMAE. ISSN: 0365-9615. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 12 The presence of acetylcholine and L-glutamate receptors sensitive to the cholinoreceptor-specific ligands cytisine [485-35-8] and tubocurarine [57-94-3] was demonstrated by means of microapplication of acetylcholine and L-glutamate to the central parietal zone of the subpharyngeal ganglion of the mollusk Z. guanensis. N-(p-Azidophenacyl)cytisine [82438-75-3] inhibited the function of the acetylcholine receptor but did not affect the glutamate receptor.
