Reproduccion, 3(1-2), 157-70 (English) 1976. CODEN: RDCNBM. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 13 Cordycepin [73-03-0], an inhibitor of poly A synthesis prevented the induction by estradiol (I) [50-28-2] of synthesis of a specific induced protein (IP) in the immature rat uterus. In 10- and 18-day-old rats, I induced uterine nucleoli transformation, characterized by the appearance of intensively colored intranucleolar bodies, demonstrating active nucleolar RNA synthesis. Cordycepin did not affect the uterine nucleolar response to I. Apparently, there is no direct correlation between IP synthesis induction and nucleolar stimulation by I.

- Stimulation of in vitro translation of messenger RNA by actinomycin D and cordycepin. Leinwand, Leslie; Ruddle, F. H. (Dep. Biol., Yale Univ., New Haven, Conn., USA). Science, 197(4301), 381-3 (English) 1977. CODEN: SCIEAS. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 3 (Biochemical Interactions) Actinomycin D (I) [50-76-0] and cordycepin [73-03-0] were tested for their effect on translation in the wheat germ embryo ext. and reticulocyte lysate assays for in vitro protein synthesis. Both drugs stimulated the incorporation of methionine-35S into protein up to 3-fold as compared to control assays. This was true for synthesis directed by murine myeloma polyadenylate-contg. RNA, tobacco mosaic virus RNA, and endogenous reticulocyte messenger RNA.
