(RP-HPLC) method was developed for the simultaneous estn. of paracetamol and aceclofenac from tablets. The method was carried out on a Hichrom C18 (25 cm ′ 4.6 mm i.d., 5 m) column with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile: 20 mM phosphate buffer (adjusted to pH 5.0 using orthophosphoric acid) (60: 40 vol./vol.) at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. Detection was carried out at 265 nm. Etoricoxib was used as internal std. The retention time of paracetamol, aceclofenac and etoricoxib were 4.75, 6.44 and 8.83 min, resp. The validation of the proposed method was also carried out according to ICH guidelines. The proposed method can be used for the estn. of these drugs in combined dosage forms.Except for chemicals metioned above, 89796-99-6 and 103-90-2 are also used. .

There is no routine simultaneous estn. procedure developed till date. So a simple, rapid, accurate, economical and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the detn. of aceclofenac and paracetamol in pharmaceutical formulations was developed. The method was based on the additivity of absorbances. Aceclofenac shows absorption maxima at 275nm and paracetamol shows absorption maxima at 256nm in ethanol. Beer Lambert's law was obeyed for both the drugs in the concn. range 1-10mg/mL. The accuracy and reproducibility of the proposed method was statistically validated by recovery studies. .
