DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 41 (Dyes, Organic Pigments, Fluorescent Brighteners, and Photographic Sensitizers) Azo dyes were prepd. by diazotization of PhNH2 [62-53-3], 2-chloroaniline [95-51-2], 4-nitroaniline [100-01-6], 2-chloro-4-nitroaniline [121-87-9], 2,4-dinitroaniline [97-02-9], 5-methoxy-2-nitroaniline [16133-49-6], 6-bromo-2,4-dinitroaniline [1817-73-8] and 6-cyano-2,4-dinitroaniline [22603-53-8], and coupling with 1-morpholino- [98223-72-4] and 1,8-dimorpholinonaphthalene (I) [80703-44-2]. The dyes obtained from showed hypsochromic shifts in their absorption max. compared with analogs having only 1 morpholino group in the coupling residue. The dyes were evaluated as disperse dyes on polyester fiber. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 41 (Dyes, Organic Pigments, Fluorescent Brighteners, and Photographic Sensitizers) 6-Bromo-2,4-dinitroaniline (I) [1817-73-8], an intermediate for prepg. disperse dyes for polyester fibers, was prepd. by brominating 1 mol 2,4-dinitroaniline [97-02-9] with ~0.5 mol Br2 with subsequent addnl. bromination through the action of NaOCl, resulting in low Br content in the wastewater. On addn. of NaOCl to the reaction mixt., HBr formed during the initial bromination was oxidized to Br2 for the post-bromination. I was obtained in ~95% yield with ~98% purity. The amt. of oxidized Br remaining in the filtrate was £2%.
