Preparation: this chemical is prepared by reaction of 2-Chloro-ethylamine with Phthalic acid anhydride at microwave irradiation. The reaction time is 15 seconds. The yield is about 77 %.

Uses: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it is used to produce N-Phenethyl-phthalimide.This reaction needs reagent IMes.HCl and catalyst Pd(OAc)2. Meanwhile, it needs solvents Tetrahydrofuran and 1-Methyl-pyrrolidin-2-one. Other condition of this reaction is reaction time of 1 hour at 20 °C. The yield is about 45 %.
