In this study, a novel acid-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles with high loaded multifunctional acidic groups was fabricated by anchoring water-soluble 5-sulfosalicylic acid onto the surface silica-modified Fe3O4. The magnetically recyclable Fe3O4@SiO2@5-SA (20?mg) showed excellent reactivity for greener synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans via a three-component reaction of different aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile and dimedone in good to excellent yields (70–95percent) in pure water at short reaction times (40–150?min). The method shows eco-friendly synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives from direct condensation of substituted 1,2-diamine with various 1,2-dicarbonyl in ethanol at room temperature to afford the desired quinoxalines with good to excellent yields (60–97percent) at shorter reaction times (120–240?min). The morphology and magnetic properties of MNPs were studied with scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier translation infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and thermogravimetric. The results showed that the Fe3O4@SiO2@5-SA catalyst is completely recoverable by an external magnet and retained catalytic activity after five recycles.

The organocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), N2 adsorption-desorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (CP-MAS-NMR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRUV/Vis). All materials, recoverable and recyclable, possess good catalytic activity in Knoevenagel condensation and in the one-pot three-component reaction for the synthesis of 2-amino-chromene derivatives under mild conditions.

In the present work, 3,3′-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium) dichloride ([C4(MIm)2]·2Cl) and 3,3′-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium) hydrogen sulfate ([C4(MIm)2]·2HSO4) were prepared via adequate, solvent-free methods and characterized using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and potentiometric titration techniques. These reagents were investigated in the synthesis of 5-arylidene (thio)barbituric acids, 2-arylidene malononitriles, 4H-pyrans, and pyrano[2,3-d] pyrimidineones, and their catalytic activities were compared in the promotion of these reactions. Based on the obtained results, we found that [C4(MIm)2]·2Cl showed more catalytic efficiency where a basic or weak acidic media is needed. In contrast, [C4(MIm)2]·2HSO4 is a powerful catalyst in reactions needing acidic catalysts to enhance the reaction rate. Using these reagents, the products were formed under mild and eco-friendly conditions in excellent yields during short reaction times without needing column chromatography for work-up.

The prepared organic-inorganic magnetic reagent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 adsorption-desorption and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) techniques. Finally, it was used as a reusable and new catalyst to promote the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidinone derivatives as important biologically active compounds. Eco-friendly protocol, high yields, short reaction times and easy and quick isolation of the products are the main advantages of this procedure.

- A novel, efficient, and recyclable biocatalyst for Michael addition reactions and its iron(iii) complex as promoter for alkyl oxidation reactions

Chitosan-g-poly(2-cyano-1-(pyridin-3-yl)allyl acrylate) (Cs-g-PCPA), having a grafting percentage (G%) of 64%, was prepared and was then subjected to complexation with iron(iii) (Cs-g-PCPA/Fe(iii)). The results of the catalytic studies demonstrated that Cs-g-PCPA serves as an efficient, recyclable and eco-friendly, basic catalyst for Michael addition reactions, which produce adducts in high yields under mild conditions. Moreover, a Cs-g-PCPA-supported iron(iii) complex was prepared and was then characterized by using FESEM, XRD, TGA, and XPS. In addition, the EDS plot of the Fe(iii) chelate confirms the presence of a relatively high amount (13%) of Fe(iii). The Cs-g-PCPA (G% = 64)-supported iron(iii) complex (Cs-g-PCPA/Fe(iii)) in the presence of H2O2 can be used to oxidize methyl pyridazinyl carbonitriles to form the corresponding fused furan derivatives efficiently. These polymeric catalysts are stable such that they can be recycled and reused more than five times without losing their catalytic activity.

SBA-15 mesoporous silicas modified with proline and aminopropyl functional groups were employed for synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrane derivatives by simply mixing the precursors with surface-modified catalyst in a mortar. The mesoporous catalysts were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), small-angle x-ray diffractometry (SAXS), thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyzer (TG/DTA), Barrett-Joiner-Halenda (BJH) pore size and volume analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurement methods. The results indicate that SBA-15 mesoporous silica modifiedwith proline and aminopropyl functional groups can be effectively utilized for synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrane derivatives. The invention relates to the technical field of chemical synthesis, and aims to solve the problems that 2 - amino -3 - cyano - 4H - pyran compounds are large in pollution and tedious in preparation in the prior art, and discloses a mechanical ball milling auxiliary synthesis method 2 -amino -3 - cyano - 4H - pyran compound which comprises the following steps: (a) the substrate 1. The substrate 2 and malononitrile were subjected to mechanical ball milling after addition of a protein catalyst and a grinding aid as a raw material. (b) Ball milling, the reactants are scraped off, the solvent is added, and the solvent is added, and after filtration, 2 - amino -3 - cyano - 4H - pyran compounds are prepared by column chromatography. The mechanical ball milling technology facilitates mutual contact of reactant molecules, realizes no solvent reaction, and is easily available to the environment. The method effectively realizes the green synthesis of 2 - amino -3 - cyano - 4H - pyran compounds, and is mild in preparation conditions, simple and convenient to operate and high in reaction rate.

Five novel zinc(II) and cadmium(II) β-oxodithioester complexes, [Zn(L1)2] (1), [Zn(L2)2]n (2), [Zn(L3)2]n (3) [Cd(L1)2]n (4), [Cd(L2)2]n (5), with β-oxodithioester ligands, where L1 = 3-(methylthio)-1-(thiophen-2-yl)-3-thioxoprop-1-en-1-olate, L2 = 3-(methylthio)-1-(pyridin-3-yl)-3-thioxoprop-1-en-1-olate, and L3 = 3-(methylthio)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)-3-thioxoprop-1-en-1-olate, were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, and NMR spectroscopy (1H and 13C{1H}). The solid-state structures of all complexes were ascertained by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The β-oxodithioester ligands are bonded to Zn(II)/Cd(II) metal ions in an Oa§S and N chelating/chelating-bridging fashion leading to the formation of 1D (in 2-4) and 2D (in 5) coordination polymeric structures, but complex 1 was obtained as a discrete tetrahedral molecule. Complex 4 crystallizes in the C2 chiral space group and has been studied using circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The multidimensional assemblies in these complexes are stabilized by many important noncovalent C-H···π(ZnOSC3, chelate), ?···?, C-H···?, and H···H interactions. The catalytic activities of 1-5 in reactions involving C-C and C-O bond formation have been studied, and the results indicated that complex 3 can be efficiently utilized as a heterogeneous bifunctional catalyst for the Knoevenagel condensation and multicomponent reactions to develop biologically important organic molecules. The luminescent properties of complexes were also studied. Interestingly, zinc complexes 1-3 showed strong lumniscent emission in the solid state, whereas cadmium complexes 4 and 5 exhibited bright luminescent emission in the solution phase. The semiconducting behavior of the complexes was studied by solid-state diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), which showed optical band gaps in the range of 2.49-2.62 eV.

Immobilized piperazine on the surface of graphene oxide (piperazine-GO) is synthesized and characterized by different methods such as FT-IR, solid-state 29Si{1H} and 13C{1H} CP/MAS NMR, elemental analysis, TGA, TEM, FE-SEM, XPS, and TPD. Subsequently, it is used as a heterogeneous bifunctional acid-base catalyst for the efficient multicomponent reaction of malononitrile, different active compounds containing enolizable C-H bonds and various aryl/alkyl aldehydes in aqueous ethanol. A wide variety of 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-chromenes are synthesized in the presence of this heterogeneous catalyst in good to high yields and with short reaction times. The catalyst is easily separated and reused for at least six times without significant loss of activity. The acidic nature of GO improves the catalytic activity of the supported piperazine and also provides heterogeneity to the catalyst. Use of aqueous ethanol as a green solvent, high turnover numbers (TON), facile catalyst recovery and reuse, simple work-up and generality of the method make this protocol an environmentally benign procedure for the synthesis of the title heterocycles.

Abstract: An Erbium-organic framework was prepared by hydrothermal reaction. The prepared framework was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The framework has open metal sites at Er(III) centers, thus providing an accessible Lewis acid center for electrophile activation. Accordingly, the synthesized framework was used as Lewis acid heterogeneous catalyst for Hantzsch coupling reaction and tetrahydro-4H-chromene synthesis. The reaction condition has been optimized by variation of the reaction time, temperature, solvent and catalyst concentration. A variety of tetrahydro-4H-chromenes was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and1H NMR spectroscopy.
