Fluoropyridine series

The fluoropyridine series encompasses aromatic compounds derived from pyridine (C5H5N), where one or more hydrogen atoms on the pyridine ring are substituted with fluorine atoms. Examples include 2-fluoropyridine, 3-fluoropyridine, and 4-fluoropyridine, distinguished by the position of the fluorine atom relative to the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring. These compounds exhibit unique chemical properties due to the combined effects of the pyridine ring, which is electron-deficient and aromatic, with the electron-withdrawing properties of the fluorine substituents. Fluoropyridines are utilized in organic synthesis as versatile intermediates for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals.
