In 1999, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Deutsche Bunsen-Gesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie (DBG) merged their two major physical chemistry journals Faraday Transactions and Berichte der Bunsen-Gesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie to form a single new journal entitled: Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP), A Journal of European Chemical Societies.
As partners in the initial venture, the Societies were joined by the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI) and the Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging (KNCV). The Nordic Chemical Societies (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) accepted invitations to join the partnership from January 2000 and the Real Sociedad Espa?ola de Química joined in July 2000. Other partners are expected to join in the near future.
PCCP is run by an Ownership Board on which all partner Societies have equal representation. The RSC undertakes the publication of PCCP under contract to the Ownership Board. All Societies are committed to ensuring that PCCP, owned and based in Europe, is of the highest international standard and, to that end, encourage their respective membership to publish their best work in it. |
