  • Synthetic Method of Voglibose
  • (CAS NO.: ), with other name of 3,4-Dideoxy-4-((2-hydroxy-1-(hydroxymethyl)ethyl)amino)-2-C-(hydroxymethyl)-D-epi-inositol, could be produced through many synthetic methods.

Following is one of the synthesis routes:
Firstly, (I) could go through the process of acylation with benzyloxycarbonyl chloride (II) in the presence of NaHCO3 in ethyl acetate to produce the corresponding N-benzyloxycarbonyl derivative (III), and the yielding compound is then react with Br2 in water to afford cyclic carbamate (IV). Next, Elimination of bromine from (IV) with NaBH4 in water affords the new cyclic carbamate (V), which by hydrolysis with Ba(OH)2 in refluxing water is converted to valiolamine (VI). Finally, this compound is reductocondensed with 1,3-dihydroxyacetone (VII) and sodium cyanoborohydride in DMF 2N HCl.Systematic Method of Voglibose
