 Production Route of 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-(2-(3-pyridinyl)ethenyl)phenol
  • Production Route of 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-(2-(3-pyridinyl)ethenyl)phenol
  • 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-(2-(3-pyridinyl)ethenyl)phenol (CAS NO.: 116376-62-6), with its systematic name of (E)-2,6-Bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-(2-(3-pyridinyl)ethenyl)phenol, could be produced through many synthetic methods.

Following is one of the synthesis routes: 2,6-Di-tert-butyllphenol (I) reacts with hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) and sulfuric acid in ethyleneglycol at 130 °C to afford 4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzaldehyde (II), which is finally condensed with 2-(3-pyridyl)acetic acid (III) in the presence of piperidine in dichloromethane at 130 °C.
