Apomine (CAS NO.: 126411-13-0), with its systematic name of Phosphonic acid, (2-(3,5-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene)bis-, tetrakis(1-methylethyl) ester, could be produced through many synthetic methods.
Following is one of the synthesis routes: The sodium salt generated from tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate (I) and NaH is alkylated with 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl chloride (II) in refluxing THF to afford the target Apomine.
