2-Lithio-2-(1-methyl-2-alkenyl)-1,3-dithianes showed 1,3-syn-selectivity on addition to aldehydes.Moreover this selectivity could be increased up to 97percent de by using equilibration of potassium alkoxide of the adduct in the presence of a ligand.
