In summary, we have developed a simple and versatile
ytterbium-catalyzed one-pot multi-component (MCR) Povarov
reaction protocol for the synthesis of structurally diverse 4-

Our
reactions
proceeded in the absence of oxidants and tolerated a wide
variety of anilines, alkynes and aldehydes. Furthermore, we
demonstrated the synthetic potential of 4-organoselenium-
quinolines as an alternative over standard electrophilic sources
in copper-free Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions.
