The cis- and trans-1,5-dimethyl-2-isopropyl-3-piperidones were synthesized.Their configurations were determined using 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.The stereochemistry of the hydride and catalytic reduction of the resulting 3-piperidones was studied.
