Synthesis of enantiomerically pure and compatibility protected (2S,3R)- and (2S,3S)-diaminobutyric acids

Enantiomerically pure (2S,3R)- and (2S,3S)-2,3-diaminobutyric acids with Fmoc protected α-amino groups and compatibly protected β-amino groups [(2S,3R)- and (2S,3S)-3-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)-2-(fluoren-9-ylmethoxycarbonylami no)butyric acid] can be prepared in decagram amounts starting from L-threonine and L-allothreonine via the corresponding hydrazides by the Mitsunobu reaction.
