Phenylacetylene reacts with norbornadiene at 100 deg C in THF to give 3-phenylethinylnortricyclene in 45percent chemical yield and 60percent optical yield, PF6 (1 molpercent) being used as a catalyst.Replacement of (-)-Norphos by other diphosphanes leads to other products or product mixtures.
