Synthesis of Z allylic alcohols with 1,4-related chiral centres by stereoselective epoxidation and the Horner-Wittig reaction

Alkenes having a diphenylphosphinoyl group on a chiral centre next to an allylic alcohol and epoxidised with double diastereomeric induction, all erythro isomers giving epoxidation syn to the OH group regardless of other chiral centres. The products are developed into transposed Z allylic alcohols with 1,4-related chiral centres.
