4β-Methoxydehydrocostus lactone has been isolated from costus roots (Saussurea lappa).Its structure and stereochemistry have been established by spectral methods and chemical correlation with dehydrocostus lactone.The compound displayed significant biological acitvity as a plant growth regulator.
